Call for Presentations

LeadingAge Indiana, along with our partners, the Indiana Assisted Living Association (INALA), Indiana Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (IHPCO) and Hoosier Owners and Providers for the Elderly (HOPE), invite you to submit a proposal to present at the 2012 Spring Conference or any future educational program. The conference will be held in Indianapolis, IN at The Indiana Convention Center May 7-8, 2012. The theme of this conference will be “Inspire. Serve. Advocate.” with a special emphasis on providing attendees with the tools to continue to promote and protect the welfare and well-being of the elderly and/or clients they serve.

This conference specifically highlights cutting-edge approaches and issues in the aging field. It also provides speakers the opportunity to demonstrate their expertise and share organizational successes with colleagues from around Indiana. Topics being requested include the following:

Topics Across the Continuum

  • Customer Service – first impressions and interaction and communication with families, residents
  • Care transitions
  • Ethical practices
  • Leadership and how staff retention/culture/are related
  • Accountable Care Organizations
  • OSHA requirements – new and existing regulations
  • Unemployment Law and FMLA
  • Unions
  • Technology

Hospice

  • Reimbursement
  • Pediatric Palliative Care
  • New QAPI requirements and implementation
  • Social Service/bereavement/pastoral care
  • Volunteers – recruitment and retention

Assisted Living

  • Fine dining, food/chefs
  • Models of service provision-bundled/unbundled-trends, tiered priced/packages, etc.
  • Establishing a wellness program
  • Falls – systems, staffing and acuity based programs
  • Resident Rights versus Regulatory Issues (more care in HCBS with regulations remaining stringent)
  • Wellness – operating all departments/programs through the “eyes of wellness”
  • Regulatory Issues – care practice differences between RCF (licensed assisted living) and assisted living not licensed by the ISDH
  • Partnering with another community based partner i.e. hospice, home health, therapies, etc.
  • Managing a state survey

Nursing Home
